Obama Picks Up Key Union Endorsements

With recent polls showing Obama trailing Clinton in Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania, the two union endorsements in the last 24 hours are huge. Yesterday the 1.3-million member UFCW threw their support behind Obama. Why is this a big deal you ask? Because according to the AP “UFCW has 69,000 members in Ohio… 26,000 in Texas…and 19,000 members in Wisconsin.” And then today, the 1.9-million strong SEIU endorsed him as well. SEIU claims to have over 150,000 members in upcoming primary states. Together, these endorsements will help bolster Obama’s ground game significantly. These Unions are organized and active, and have structures in place to mobilize volunteers quickly and effectively. Not only are the troops on the ground important, but they also have money to spend on radio and television ads in every district. Hilary can not be happy.
